22 years
Feb 23, 2012

I have been HIV+ for 22 years and have never been on medication. My most recent VL is 22990 and my most recent cd4 is 949. With these numbers am i still consider a long term non progressior???

Response from Dr. Young

Hi and thanks for posting.

22 years and a CD4 of almost 1000! Yes, I'd call you a long-term non-progressor. Your case is somewhat unusual since most LTNP are thought to have very low HIV viral loads (less than a few hundred, if detectable at all).

This doesn't fully mean that you health risks are none, but I'd consider myself in the lucky category.

Here's to another 22 years. BY
