new drug? Jan 31, 2012 Hello doctor. Thank you for your contributions. I just found out about a new drug made in the EU called muncoxifan. HAve you heard anything about it or is it just a hoax? Thank you |

 HI, The only thing I can find about muncoxifan is that a person, who identified themselves as a researcher in Germany, called into a WHO conference and claimed that they had developed a medication that could suppress HIV for up to 20 days. There is no data in the scientific literature (via a pubmed search) that indicates that a medicine of this name has been studied for HIV. It may be a hoax, but certainly no mediciation would be anywhere near approval for treatment if it has not been reported in any scientific paper to date. Let's keep our eyes open for anything more.
