Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for posting. I asked our friend and colleague, Dr. Jair Garcia from Monterrey, Mexico to respond to your question:

"Hello, thanks for visiting us at Thebody.com and asking about your health. And congratulations for visiting Oaxaca! Its a very beautiful place to go, and all the Mexicans are proud to offer all the gastronomic and cultural stuffs there. Actually, because of this situation (Oaxaca is the cultural heart of Mexico) the Government of Oaxacas State is one of the most important in our country. This leads a lot of money from the federal government to improve health policies, and this help us a lot with the HIV medicine: Oaxaca have the biggest HIV clinic outside of Distrito Federal (even bigger than ours in Monterrey) and they receive a lot of foreign patients -from Europe or USA- who goes to live or spend time in Oaxaca. So, they can help you with your meds. Dont forget to carry a sample, a list of your medicines and know your labs, so the physicians can know more about you.

In this web page you can find more information about the CAPASITS (HIV clinic) at the south of Oaxaca City (close to downtown):

http://www.coesida.oaxaca.gob.mx/capasits.html

The address in Oaxaca is: 7a. Priv. de Aldama Sur s/n, Centro, C.P. 71256, San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. Telephone: (951) 518 51 11, Free "AIDS telephone line": 01 800 713 47 41

Hope this information can be useful and allow you enjoy your trip. ¡Bienvenido a México, amigo!"
