bromelain and arvi

I am taking a nutritional supplement called bromelain. Is there any known interaction of this supplement and any Antiretroviral drugs?

Hello and thanks for posting.
Bromelain is an enzyme product derived from pineapple stem. Since bromelein is a protein, in theory, it should be broken down into smaller proteins or peptides in the intestine and likely should not have significant drug-interactions.
However, according to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center website , the pharmacology of the metabolism and excretion (therefore, drug interactions) are not characterized; as such we can't accurately predict drug-interactions with ARVs.
