|HIV testing preparation
Jul 14, 2011
Respected Sir, Is there any dietary restriction ( Herbs , Green tea, etc ) that can not be taken before HIV antibody testing ?
Is there any medicines also that can not be taken before HIV antibody testing ?
Is there are any sort of any other type of restrictions that can not be done before HIV antibody testing ?
Or is it like that there is no restrictions of any type and that particular person can walk any time at his /her will and get HIV antibody tested ?
Response from Dr. Young
Hello Aveek and thank you for your post.
There's no particular need to modify food, diet or medications or any other restrictions in order to get HIV testing.
What is important is to get tested. Current US guidelines recommend that all persons between the ages of 13 and 64 have HIV screening and follow up testing in the event of ongoing risks (such as sexual activity or drug use).
