| Effect of undetectable Viral load. Jul 7, 2011 Sir if your viral load is undetectable what does it portend: 1. Would the HIV still cause collateral damage to organs of the body? 2. Would you still infect people with the HIV? 3. What do you do to keep the HIV undetectable. 4.Do you sincerely think there would ever be a cure for HIV? Thank you. |

Hello and thanks for your post. (1,2) When HIV viral load is undetectable (especially as a result of HIV medications), the risk of disease progression, AIDS, organ damage or transmission of HIV is dramatically reduced. (3) With the rare exception of non-term non-progressing persons, HIV-positive persons have to receive and adhere to antiretroviral medications in order to keep their viral loads undetectable.
