Hi there, I was considering taking 5ml of Olive Leaf Extract 3 times a day. I also take Atripla. Are there any dangers of combining the two? Thanks.
Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for your post.
There aren't any published studies of olive leaf extract and HIV, nor analyses of potential drug-drug interactions with HIV medications. Indeed, there are citations of potential drug interactions with some medications that are metabolized by the liver.
Because of this later potential, I'd proceed with caution. Minimally, I'd advise your health care provider about when you start on the supplement, so that the effectiveness of Atripla could be monitored.
Hope this helps, BY
