universial hiv test
Oct 23, 2010

my results are Lymphocytes 2841 CELLS/UL cd4 absolute 987 CELLS/UL CD4 35 % CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THESE RESULTS INDICATE PLEASE.

Response from Dr. Young

These values are measures of your CD4 cell level-- both are entirely normal. CD4 cells are an important component of your immune system and are the cells that are attacked by HIV.

Having normal CD4 counts is a good thing, but neither indicates, nor rules out having HIV infection. The only way to know if you have HIV is to have a HIV antibody test.
