missed a dose of kaletra
Jul 31, 2010

on my 2nd week of PEP... taking truvada and 2 kaletra in the evening and 2 kaletra in the morning... i totally forgot to take the 2 kaletra in the morning.. just remembered it when i was due to take the evening pills? took the evening pills but was worried to take double dose of the kaletra... what should i do? did i ruin the treatment?

Response from Dr. McGowan

Don't worry, especially for PEP it will be OK. We also use Kaletra as 4 tablets once daily and it is effective and safe at that dose. It can cause some more GI upset. Since we are not treating an established infection with virus growing in the blood a single missed dose is OK, especially since the truvada will cover the blood for 24 hours.

Best, Joe
