Dear Dr Young You replied regarding switching from Trivada and Efivarenz to Efivarenz and Tenofovir and Lamuvidine. How much Lamuvidine should I take miligrams. I have never had any side effects for the past 6 years. Any chances the switch can have.

Thank you

Response from Dr. Young

Hello Hadley and thanks for your post.

The typical dose of lamivudine (3TC), assuming that you have normal kidney function, is 300 mg once-daily.

The switch that is under discussion should rarely cause any new side effects.
