|how do you know if you are superinfected?
Jul 10, 2010
I was diagnosed in December 2006. It has been a very long and hard three years with severe depression and periods of self destructive behavior (mainly extreme drug use). Over the course of the these last four year there have been times where I had unsafe sex with people that I assumed were positive. How would I know if I was super infected? I have been on meds for almost three years and have a undetectable viral load. I cannot help to worry that I may be super infected. This adds to my anxiety/depression of having this disease which cycles into poor choices. Is there a test to determine if someone is super infected?
Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for your post.
If your viral load has remained undetectable through your possible exposures, you could not have been superinfected.
I hope this helps. BY
