Atripla and Resistance
Mar 27, 2010

Hi, How long can someone take Atripla before resistance begins to build up to the drug?

Response from Dr. Young

Hello,

Assuming that baseline resistance testing didn't reveal any significant drug resistance and that you're adherent to your medications, first-line treatments like Atripla (and others) should remain effective for many, many years. I have patients who have been successfully suppressed on first-line treatments (switched along the years with better medications) for over 12 years now.

I hope this helps, BY
