|Truvada & Efavirenz
Feb 26, 2010
I justed using this combo a week ago and I was told by my doctor to take truvada in the morning and efavirenz in the evening. However, my medical aid advised otherwise and said i should take both pills in the evening. In this confusion i decided to follow my doctor's advice. What i have figured out from other people on the same combo, both pills are taken in the evening. So in my case if i want to change, would it be advisable to take both pills in the evening and wouldn't i run a risk of causing resistance in this combo? If i change times, which option would be better ( take truvada in the morning and another pill of it in the evening with efaveranz and thereafter stick to evening ( meaning i will be taking truvada twice in that particular day) or not take truvada in the morning but take it with efeveranz in the evening & continue with evening option.

You may certainly take both truvada and sustiva together in the evening on an empty stomach. Yes, these meds are all together in one pill called Atripla. The best thing would be to take your AM truvada then another that night and then continue with the nightly dose to avoid an extended period without the med.
Thinking of switching meds.
