| atripla and flu vaccin Dec 27, 2009 why should someone on atripla with an cd4 count of 600 indetectable vl have to get a vaccin against the flu? my first rationale would be: the person in questions has no compromised inmune system as the vl has been suppressed by atripla, so if that individual gets the flu will be treated with tamiflu if needed but does not need to get vaccined. Please share your thoughs/experiences on this front and if a vaccin is recommenden also for undetectable vl HIV+ individuals the why is that exactly. |

Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for your post. It is recommended that nearly all persons with HIV receive the seasonal influenza vaccination annually- irrespective of treatment or viral load status. Tamiflu isn't a substitute for the vaccine, but an effective treatment for influenzas if one is infected. I hope this helps. BY | |||||||||
