Bad Fever very worried
Dec 12, 2009

Worried here. 39 yr old male.....undetectable with 280 vl. For three day I've had a constant fever of 102 advil brings it down but still reoccuring...symptoms include diarrhea, chills, body aches. What should I do..what is it?hospital maybe? please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for your post.

There are many things that can cause fever. These days, the most common thing is influenza; I'll assume that you made a typo with your viral load undetectable and CD4 count (not VL) at 280.

With your symptoms, I'd wager you have a viral syndrome -- entirely consistent with influenza. I'd contact your healthcare provider today to get more personalized advice; if that should be delayed, a trip to your local emergency room could be in order.

Be well and good luck, BY
