Get aerobic exercise, not overweight; don't smoke.
Next steps to inc HDL and dec TG levels?
Response from Dr. McGowan
You do not mention if you are on HIV medications or not. First, it is important that you obtain your lipid tests in a fasting state. Your November result was not fasting.
Based on your question, you are not a smoker which is a very good thing. I am also glad to hear that you are exercising and are not overweight.
You should discuss with your doctor if it might be prudent at this point with an elevated triglyceride level to start a drug in the fibrate class of drugs which can also elevate your HDL level.
