Urgent Question!!!! Plz help! Atripla and Acetazolamide????????
Oct 30, 2009

I am travelling from sea level to about 3200 meters of altitude tomorrow. I am currently taking atripla. my doc suggested in order to prevent altitude sicknees to take Acetazolamide (one pill today and one pill tomorrow). he also said that it does not interact with atripla and that since i will only be taking 2 pills (one per day) there should not be any problems.

Is this true? Is it safe to take with atripla?

Thanx a bunch!

Joel

Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for your post.

Your doctor's correct. There should be no significant interactions between acetazolamide (Diamox) and Atripla.

Enjoy the mountains.
