Is this safe? Aug 17, 2009 I'm just wondering is taking the valproic acid( an epileposy drug) could help cure us? I was reading about the clinical trial they had on web md. Also, are there any interactions to be conserned with? |

 Hi and thanks for your post. It's a long way from a preliminary clinical study to standard of care for HIV. Valproate has generated some interest as a way to possibly eradicate HIV from infected cells; I wouldn't recommend its routine use at this time. Why take anything unless there is proven benefit? You'd only risk side effects or toxicity without clear-cut benefit. BY | ||||||||
