| post-exposure prophylaxis Jul 17, 2009 Hi Dr. Joe, Thank you again for your previous answer. I appreciate it. I took the HIV-1 DNA by PRC Test and the HIV-1 Abs on the 36th day after exposure. Both tests came negative. I have never tested positive on any HIV tests. I've been taking a sleeping pill for insomnia called Zolpidem for about 5 weeks before I did my tests(10 mg each day because of my anxiety and worried about of these HIV tests)Also, I took 2 pills of Taylenol for headhead. My question is: Could have these insomnia pills made my DNA by PCR test come negative? Or the tylenol? I have not taken any other medication but these two I just mentioned. Thank you again. |

Response from Dr. McGowan
Thanks for your follow-up. No the medications you took would not have affected the PCR tests. Don't worry. Joe | |||||||||
