which is better Gene Therapies vs HIV meds ???

Hi Dr Benjamin.
Can you explain to me the difference between HIV drug and gene therapies???? Which is more effective for those living with HIV???? And are they both available in the U.S. or outside the USA ???

Hello and thanks for your post.
This one's easy- there are no gene therapies for HIV. Though strategies are being researched, it's going to be a long time before we seen genetic therapies for HIV reach the clinic (if ever).
So, for the foreseeable future, we'll be using antiretroviral drugs to treat those infected with HIV.
