syphilis, one or three injections? Aug 13, 2008 I was recently diagnosed with having secondary syphilis, I am hiv+, not taking medication, and t cell is 175, viral load is 40,000. My physician gave me bicillin LA, 2.4 M units injection. He said this shoud be enough, and I should get tested again in one month. However I read that HIV+ people should get 3 injections one week apart. Should I insist on getting two more injections, one week and then 2 weeks after the intial one? |

 Thanks for your post. You're correct. Secondary syphilis is treated with a series of three, once-weekly penicillin injections. Primary syphilis is treated with the single injection. BY | ||||||||
