Response from Dr. Cohen
Well - we know that a synthetic version of marijuana -called marinol - is very useful for some with HIV/AIDS to stimulate appetite, and/or decrease nausea. And this chemical is derived from marijuana. So while it has not been studied scientifically - it would be reasonable to expect that at least for some, marijuana might also improve appetite/decrease nausea... Other symptoms do also reportedly improve with marijuana for at least some people. Including the most infamous use - which is to induce a mild euphoria - which is the one effect that leads to it being illegal... There is no reason to think that marijuana works as an antiviral as a treatment for HIV itself. Hope that helps. CC | |||||||||
