what is the best regimen for me?
Mar 5, 2008

Hi! I take Combivir twice daily (6 am and 6 pm) on an empty stomach, Reyataz 300 mg along with Norvir 100 mg at 7 am with food. Is it an potimal regimen or I can take morning Combivir together with Reyataz and Norvir? is it possible? thank you!

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your post.

Assuming that this is your first regimen, the combination is not a bad one, though somewhat unconventional.

Combivir can be taken with food, hence, it's entirely possible to take your Combivir together with your Norvir and Reyataz in the evening.

Combivir has fallen from common use in the US of late (though commonly used in other parts of the world), because of it's twice-daily dosing and increased risk of side effects. If you are otherwise tolerating your medications well and have an undetectable viral load, I'd see no reason to switch at this time.

Be well, BY
