Silver has been long used and still is used in medicine, burn victoms, opthomology. If you do the research on aids cures or any cures for that matter. Case in point, autism is up over 8000% in only 20 years, now its one out of 133 kids born. A subgroup within the USA has yet to contract one case of autism, the Amish population has no case of autism, ever period.
If you trace back the patents to real specifics, the first patent on an aids cure was submitted in 1977, 6 years before the outbreak, the submitter? Dept of the Army, bio weapons devision. The sooner DRs get their heads out of their ASS and stop listening to big pharmas...but we all know where your bread is buttered.

What are you talking about?
First, silver does have antibacterial properties and is used commonly in hospital devices-- the very subject of lots of medical research. Nevertheless, just because something is patented, does not mean that the thing works, or is even a good idea. Further, there are many compounds patented for their HIV activity-- this does not mean that they actually work or are safe to ingest. Patent is the first step in the very laborious and scientifically vetted mechanism of evaluation of medical effectiveness and safety.
Here's a list of some crazy, but real patents that illustrate this point.
