| Healthy 25 Yr Old??? Feb 2, 2008 First off let me start by saying THANK YOU. I use this site everyday. I have 2 questions. I am 25 year old male newly hiv positive. I have taken exceptional care of myself over the years. I dont smoke and maybe have 2 drinks a month. I enjoy working out eating healthly. Is there any evidence or research that prior medical history has an effect on a hiv positive person???? Assuming I tested positive today jan 25 2008 how long of a lifespan would YOU say I have???? |

Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for your post; I'm sorry to hear about your new diagnosis. There's no data that suggests that having 2 drinks a month will impact your HIV-related health. As for life expectancy- I tell my newbie patients that they can expect to live a normal duration and quality of life. Not a gimmie, but something that will require ongoing monitoring, medications and just a little bit of luck. Be well, BY | |||||||||
