lump on the side of my left butt cheek
Dec 17, 2007

Hello! This lump on the side of my left butt cheek is somewhat hard. It feels like it's a blob of "fat buildup" underneath the skin. It doesn't hurt at all nor does anything happen when I apply pressure to it. The colour of this lump is the same colour as my skin. What may this be?

Thank you

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your post.

From what you've described, the lump sounds like a benign lipoma-- a fatty tumor of sorts. These are usually of little medical significance, though can be surgically removed if painful or otherwise a nag.

As always, let your doctor know about your symptoms the next time you see her or him. BY
