I see an hiv doc every 3 months and get the usual tcell and vl plus the usual blood work .MY doc never orders cholesterol or trig tests.. Is this standard practice and if not how often do you order these tests? ( I recall all my prev hiv docs including those tests at every blood draw at the 3 month intervals)

Thanks for your post.
Fasting lipids (total, LDL, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides) should be routinely checked in patients at least annually, more frequently among persons with known cardiovascular disease risk or in the months following initiation of antiretroviral therapy.
It probably isn't necessary to check lipids quarterly, unless there are ongoing management issues.
