my triglyceride is at 1100mg, my doctor subscribed tricor, I don't want to take it, can I lower my level with diet and excercise?

Diet can have an important effect on triglycerides. The first step is to cut out the simple sugars: soda, cakes, candy, etc. But, even this along with reducing fats and exercise is unlikely to bring your levels down to acceptable. That said, you should try.
An alternative to Tricor is to take omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil). This will modestly reduce triglyceride levels. A dose of 1 gram three times a day is a good start. The dose is calculated by adding the DHA and EPA components together so that if a fish oil product has 500 mg of each it adds to 1000 mg (same as 1 gram).
If your HIV meds are the culrpit, a change in your regimen can also help depending on what you are taking.
