what is bactrium and what are the side effects my son has hiv and is in jail and was given this medication and his jaw locked up and his tongue swelled and then he was given cyclobenzaprine

Bactrim (Septra, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole) is an antibiotic use to prevent PCP in HIV+ persons and commonly used for bacterial infections.
Some persons can develop an allergic reaction to Bactrim (sometimes serious), also called a "sulfa allergy", since the medication has a sulfur molecule. It would appear that your son had this allergic reaction.
