Thanks for your post. Bactrim (Septra, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole) is an antibiotic use to prevent PCP in HIV+ persons and commonly used for bacterial infections. Some persons can develop an allergic reaction to Bactrim (sometimes serious), also called a "sulfa allergy", since the medication has a sulfur molecule.
