Liver medicines
Jul 7, 2007

Dear Dr Young Thanks for your answer to my last post regarding my CD4 count. I have another concern. My doctor has asked me take liver protection medicine since i started treatment. Tests showed that my liver functions are fine except a few indexes (values) that I cant spell out to you. I am concerned about taking liver protection in a long term. What is your suggestion?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Peter

Response from Dr. Young

Peter,

Thanks for your post.

I don't believe in taking anything that your body doesn't absolutely need and doesn't have solid scientific support. In this regard, while many doctors (especially in Eastern Europe) prescibe "hepato protectors", I think that this is a waste of effort and money and probably of little if any benefit. BY
