| Kaletra and HPV May 20, 2007 I remember reading last year that Lopinavir, one of the drugs in Kaletra, was shown to be active against HPV (warts). Have any studies shown if the currently approved orally administered preparations of Kaletra confer the secondary benefit of controlling HPV systemically? As an HIV positive man who also has HPV and needs regular pap-smears and occasional surgical removal of warts and precancerous lesions is it worth considering this possible benefit when choosing a medicine regimen? |

Response from Dr. Pierone
Hello and thanks for posting. I am not aware of any real-world clinical studies that show evidence Kaletra is any better than other anti-retroviral agents in controlling HPV infection. So a potential effect against HPVis really not one of the considerations in selecting antiretroviral therapy. | |||||||||
