Starting treatment within 6 months after infection
May 4, 2007
My friend was diagnosed with HIV+ in Feb 07, this was one month after infection. Have any satistics been proven with regards to taking meds for the first 6 months and if so for how long in duration.

We really do not have data which show early treatment of HIV infection changes the long-term course of HIV infection. The one exception might be if treatment is started before or during seroconversion. Since your friend was diagnosed a month after infection this would be out of that window period. There are studies which are underway how to best guide people who have recently been infected with HIV.
