Will radiotherapy effect CD4
Mar 28, 2007

I have recently had electron radiotherapy on KS on the sole of my foot. I received a total dose of 20Gy in 10 treatments. Will this treatment have had an adverse effect on my CD4 count and if so how much of an effect. Current numbers VL <40 CD4 280 20%. Thanks.

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your post.

There should be minimum effect of local radiation therapy on your CD4 counts. If any, there could be a slight decrease, but so long as your viral load remains undetectable through this time period, any decrease in CD4 is unlikely to be significant.

Best of health to you, BY
