I tested possitive for hiv on march 5, 07 not only was i possitive but i already had (aids) I also tested possitive for syphilis. My doc told me that base on the test i had contracted syphilis with in the past year, He gave me a pennicilin shot on my butt and said that that would kill the viros. I have two questions 1.How soon would i know if it was kill the viros . 2. I stared meds yesterday 3/21/07 how long before i start feeling better.

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your post and sorry to hear about your diagnoses.

1) Penicillin treats syphillis but doesn't treat HIV.

2) Treatment for HIV generally improves symptoms-- for some patients, they'll notice feeling at least a little better within a matter of weeks. Indeed, symptom improvement (and immunological improvement) should continue for many months to come.

Hope this helps. BY
