what about getting a tattoo?
Jan 30, 2007
hello doctor i couldn't seem to find information if it's ok to get a tattoo and be positive? i'm assuming if surgery is ok that possibly a tattoo would be no big deal. i happen to be on my first regimen of Atripla for 6 months now with a undectable viral load and 794 cd4. my cd4 has never been below 475. I do have a tattoo that i've had for 13 years. my doctor warned me upon starting treatment that the tattoo may scab up and start to heal again. this hasn't occurred yet but i wonder about adding any new art.
Response from Dr. Wohl
I don't see why a new tattoo would be a problem, provided it was tasteful.
Of course, sharing your HIV+ status with the artist would be nice.
