shortage of atripla
Oct 30, 2006
How long can one go without taking atripla because of a shortage at my pharmacy?
Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for your post.
Shortages of HIV medications can be very troubling, especially since missed doses can lead to the development of drug resistance.
If your currently taking the coformulated tenofovir/FTC/efavirenz (Atripla) and cannot get the triple, perhaps the un-bundled version of tenfovir/FTC (Truvada) + efavirenz (Sustiva) might be available.
I'd not want to see you miss more than a day (two at the most) under ideal terms.
Best of luck, BY
