Oct 6, 2006 Dear doctors, I would like to ask what do you think about recent discover which was awarded by Nobel price about mechanism how is the information exactly stored in genes. Is there any hope for HIV suffers to expect new more efficient drugs? What is your opinion ? Thank you for your answer. |

Thanks for your post. The Nobel was awarded to Andrew Fire and Craig Mello for their important discovery of RNA interference (RNAi). Indeed exciting news to this reader (and former RNA biochemist). Whether this makes it as a therapy for HIV (or anything else, for that matter) is speculative, but there is considerable interest. Here's a link to an earlier TheBody.com article on the subject.
