 This one's unfortunately, easy. Valacyclovir (Valtrex) is a herpses simplex virus medication (HSV) that is only active against viruses in the herpes family (HSV1, HSV2 and cytomegalovirus). Herpses simplex virus is an entirely different virus than HIV. Medications that treat HSV simply don't work against HIV and vice versa. BY | ||||||||
