Lesion in lower stomach Jun 19, 2006 Infected three years ago with (current) CD4 count of 529, 32% and 1.4%. Recently found a 5mm lesion on the greater curve of the stomach in the antrum. It had a typical eroded top looking like a leiomyoma. It is confined to the SUBMUCOSA with a maximum depth penetration of 3mm. There is no bleeding. Are these lesions typical for people with HIV (i.e. is it a result of damage to the mucusal surface in the same way as many suffer mucosal disease in the throat of sinus) or is it likely to be completely unrelated? |

 It is possible this has nothing at all to do with your HIV infection. People without HIV get such lesions. Certainly, there are more cancers seen in people with HIV than the general population, including types not usually associated with HIV. However, I suspect this is not the case here. DW | ||||||||
