Correct time of medicine
Jun 15, 2006

I just start to take a medicine from last night.

But confusing now.

I took "Lamivudine 150mg + Zidovudine 100mg 3pcs + Efavirenz 200mg 3pcs last night(just before sleep around 1:00AM)"

This morning(9:00AM) I took Lamivudine 150mg + Zidovudine 100mg 3pcs

And I will take another Lamivudine 150mg + Zidovudine 100mg 3pcs + Efavirenz 200mg 3pcs just before sleep.

Am I correct ?

Do I have to take a zidovudine + lamivudine earler night than Efavrienz ?

I think i must be take Zidovudine and Lamivudine earlier and not just before sleep.

I appreciated if you let me know correct time to take a medicine.

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your post.

Although in general, it's not necessary to take your twice daily medications exactly 12 hours apart, your 1:00 AM followed by 9:00 (if done every day), might be a little too close together than ideal.

Seems to me that there are a couple of alternatives. First, you could simply take your morning dose later in the day, around 1200, for example. Second (and less favorable to me), you could split your evening dose so that your lamivudine and zidovudine doses are closer to the 12 hour time split with your 9:00 AM dose.

I hope this helps, best of health to you. BY
