My doctor wants me to start with
Is this a good first combination for someone who has never taken before?
Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for your post.
This should be a very potent and well tolerated first-line regimen. Indeed, this is one of the common first meds in our patients.
Tenofovir/FTC (Truvada) rarely causes significant side effects; fosamprenavir (Lexiva, Telzir)/ritonavir (Norvir) is one of the better tolerated PI combos; recently released data from the GSK-sponsored KLEAN clinical trial concluded that fosamprenavir performs similarly to lopinavir/ritonavir (Kaletra) in treatment-navie patients.
I hope this helps, let us know how your medication start goes. I'm sure that many readers will be interested in hearing.
