what are my chances of getting giardia? Dec 21, 2005 hi we were just informed about a week ago that our new puppy has giardia. we were told that we need to wash our hands after we handle him. what are our chances of getting it? can it be passed from animal to human just by holding the puppy? please help i have two small children at home. |

 Assuming that your pup is on treatment and you've been hand washing, your risks should be pretty low. Dog to human transmission of giardia can certainly happen; if you develop symptoms of gastrointestinal upset or diarrhea, you should contact your doctor. BY | ||||||||
