|AM I A LONG TIME SURVIVOR
Oct 24, 2005
Im positive since 1999 with hepatitis B too (cured). During these years, my infectologist did exams to control viral load,CD4,CD8. I had sinusitis always ( cocaine addicted), diahrrea, codiloma and depression and a pneumonia last may. My last exam at this month are excellents: 1.236 CD4 and viral load 21.2000. My doctor said Im a candidate to be a LONG TIME SURVIVOR. Do you agree with her? Idont use retrovirals, nothing.
thank you for your attention.

Individuals who are HIV+ and have a persistently high CD4 and an undetectable or very low viral load are typically considered long term non-progressors. I am unclear from your email what your viral load exactly is. If is is in the thousands, I would hesitate to label you as a non-progressor as such levels of viral load are associated with CD4 cell count declines over time.
Regardless of such semantics, you have a wonderful CD4 cell count. Your counts should continue to be monitored and you should work on doing all you can to remain healthy.
