please answer HCV and HIV question
Oct 20, 2005

I used cocaine out of another person's straw. If this person had HIV or HCV what are the chances of me getting them?

Response from Dr. Wohl

This would be an extremely difficult way to acquire HIV. As far as HCV, there are theories that sharing of cocaine straws can transmit HCV. This has not been well demonstrated and therefore the risk is has not been quantified.
