| Taking Pills Everyday on Time Sep 14, 2005 I have been perscribed Sustiva and Truvada once a day. I have not started yet, but they are sitting on the kitchen counter. I want to do as much research as possible before I start. The nurse suggested that I take them at the same time every nite before bed. she said I could open up the window of time from one hour or an hour later after my designated timeclock to take them. but, if I go out at nite, and dont expect to be home till later(2or 3am) do I take the pills at my regular time and stay out, or do I wait to take them when I get home very late(3am)? |

Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for your post. Fortunately, for many current drug regimens, the drugs stay in your body for quite a while (aka, have long half-lives). Because of this, there is a somewhat lessened requirement to take them precisely at the same time every day (though this is still a worthwhile goal). If you're staying out late only once in a while, I'd recommend simply taking your Truvada and Sustiva when you get home. Be sure to discuss and inform your healthcare providers about your questions. Good luck and thanks for reading. BY | |||||||||
