vl blip
Sep 11, 2005

Hi, I was wondering why, when you answered a recent question about vl blips,, on Sept 03, you didnot mention the fact that many of the labs doing vl(Rna) were having blips bec,.of the erroneous way the specimens were being prepared and that this is supp. to be fixed now.. Also, that a Bdna could r/o a blip if that was unded.. thanks,. :Luke

Response from Dr. Wohl

Dear Luke-

I am not aware of any systemic problems with the viral load assay of late. Certainly you raise an excellent point and when evaluating any abberrent lab result one must also rule out lab error.

Ruling out a blip is difficult unless blood from the blip specimen is saved and ran again.
