I've recently found a small hard lump under my arm and I'm worried it might be cancerous. It has gone down in size but is still there and it hurts when i touch it. I'm going to see a GP to see what they say but I thought I'd ask you as well. I've never heard of cancer in my family but my dad did say he might have cancer once but then never said whether he has it or not. I'm just worried and want to find out what it might be. It's only come up over the past few days and it is also itchy.

Thanks for your post.
First off, anything that I'd say here should be taken lightly, since a physical examination and/or biopsy of suspicious masses are really what's needed for exact diagnoses.
That said, a lump that comes up suddenly and is painful is unlikely to be cancerous and more likely to be something like a cyst or abscess (infection).
Make sure to discuss your symptoms with your doctor. BY
