Zyban for someone one HIV meds

Jun 5, 2005

Hi.I am a +ve 18 years,Taking : viread-ritonavir-reyataz-ziagen.I have been trying to stop smoking for many years now ,patches-gum- without any success.

I am now thinking of trying Zyban I can`t find any info on drug interaction ,Do you know of any web based info.

kind regards

Response from Dr. Pierone

Zyban is buproprion, which is also the same agent in Wellbutrin. Norvir should be expected to increase the levels of Zyban based on its impact on liver enzyme systems so they can cautiously be used together. We have many patients on this combination, we often go with a lower than usual starting dose of Zyban and then build up slowly from there.

To start or not to start?
Viread + Videx + Norvir + Lexiva
