Slow progressor?
Feb 27, 2005

Dr. Pierone: If your viral load remains undetectable and CD4 over 750 over two years on med's - does this in fact mean that you are a slow progressor? Meds were started at what the Dr. believed was seroconversion-

Response from Dr. Pierone

Slow progression generally refers to someone that has a low viral low and stable (or slowly declining) CD4 cells while off therapy. One of the reasons that we consider early treatment of HIV infection during seroconversion is the hope that prompt commencement of an antiretroviral cocktail might increase the likelihood of slow progression. Hope this helps and good luck!
