a typical recommended checkup

Feb 17, 2005

how often should i see my doctor? I was diagnosed six years ago and actually I'm undetectable, my CD4 are about 350: I take Sustiva and Combivir. I see my doctor and have my blood tested once a year to have my prescription renewed for another year. Should I be more proactive with issues concerning my treatment? your attention is appreciated on this delicate and sensitive matter, BRB

Response from Dr. Young

BRB- Thanks for your post and question.

Yes, I (as do most treatment guidelines) recommend getting monitoring blood work quarterly, minimally every 6 months. If you have a good line of communication with your doctor, you don't necessarily need to go in to the office for evaluation with this frequency, but the blood work should hopefully be a proactive way of making sure that everything is going well.

Good luck, thanks for reading. BY
